Exterior

  • Inspect roof, eaves, and siding for damage or debris

  • Open and inspect crawlspace or under-cottage access points
  • Reinstall outdoor furniture and clean surfaces
  • Dock inspection and setup (including ramps and anchors)
  • Check outdoor lighting and electrical outlets
  • Clean windows (exterior and interior)
  • Turn on outdoor water taps and hoses

Interior

  • Turn on power and check all breakers/fuse panels
  • Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors; replace batteries
  • Turn on water system (well, pumper municipal); check for leaks
  • Prime and test hot water heater
  • Flush all water lines (taps, toilets, showers)
  • Deep clean kitchen, bathroom, and all living areas
  • Inspect appliances and test functionality

  • Air our space and check for mold, pests, or musty smells

Yard and Surroundings

  • Rake leaves, remove branches and debris

  • Open sheds and inspect tools/equipment

  • Add RV antifreeze to all drains, toilets, and traps
  • Shut off water supply at source (well/municipal)
  • Set thermostat to proper temp (if applicable)
  • Test and check all smoke/CO detectors
  • Close fireplace flue/damper (if applicable)
  • Inspect for signs of pests or leaks

Final Touches

  • Lock all windows, doors, and sheds
